The Vaccines have been announced as the third headline act for this year’s Liverpool Sound City.
The indie rockers will join previously announced headliners The Flaming Lips and Belle and Sebastian at the three day event, which will be held on May 22, 23 and 24.
The London band recently previewed their new single, Handsome, and announced that their third album English Graffiti will be released later this year.
Other acts set to perform include Sonic Youth guitarist Thurston Moore, with the Thurston Moore Band, Dum Dum Girls, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Dutch Uncles, former Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes and Slaves.
More live acts are set to be announced in the coming weeks, as is the identity of this year’s keynote speaker, which was last year delivered by Thurston Moore.
Dave Pichilingi, CEO of the event, said: “We promised a massive and credible line-up this year and we delivered.
“The Vaccines, The Flaming Lips and Belle & Sebastian will play to an audience of thousands in one of the coolest cities in the world on the banks of the River Mersey in the unique setting of our brand new Docklands home. It does not get much better than that.
“Add to that literally hundreds of the best and brightest acts from around the world who will join them on the bill. We are so excited about the endless possibilities of our new festival home. It means we can offer so much more than just a live music festival.
“We can immerse our audience in an amazing setting with the best backdrop in the world and give them a totally fantastic experience.
“There will be non-stop entertainment, parties and a bag full of surprises. Each day will end with a massive spectacle as we head into our headline artists and party on until the early hours of the morning.”
