A new cassette tape label from Sheffield releasing diverse music unified by a minimalist aesthetic, Utility Tapes begins by announcing three cassette releases from Sheffield artists and a release show at Bishop’s House.
Utility Tapes has been created by Adam Zejma who co-founded the cassette label Tye Die Tapes that released cassettes by Bos Angeles, Bare Mattress (Overnight Drive/Self Defense Family), Slushy Guts and Advance Base (Casiotone for the Painfully Alone) among others. Utility Tapes will focus on releasing short runs of cassettes with uniform, minimalist design.
All three of the label’s first releases were recorded at Sheffield’s Tye Die Tapes studio and feature members of Night Flowers, naisian, Acid Mass, The Ronald Raygun, the owner of boutique effect pedal manufacturer Dwarfcraft Devices and the mysterious Sammartino.
