To celebrate their UK tour; starting tonight in Edinburgh, Dutch Uncles have shared their video for ‘Oh Yeah’. The new single features backing guest vocals from Stealing Sheep, Everything Everything, and Aldous RH. The ‘Oh Yeah’ visuals were shot at Bury roller rink, and finds Dutch Uncles vocalist, Duncan Wallis donning skates alongside Stealing Sheep, and the rest of the band. Watch the results of Dutch Uncles + Skates below. After watching the video you can head over HERE to hear Duncan chatting to Silent Radio on our weekly radio show the weekend before the band’s UK tour starts.
Duncan Wallis reveals: “Yeah, I used to be a skater boy. But like most other fruit-booters I didn’t have the patience to learn boarding or BMX-ing so skating became my thing. I gave up soon after because I refused to wear a helmet; I didn’t want to destroy my quite frankly beautiful face or brains, but when Nick suggested a bit of 4-on-4, I couldn’t wait to tear shit up… Practising was a little odd. At 4pm on a Wednesday in a roller rink, you find yourself the only person over 10 years old working on some sweet glides, so I didn’t have much time as to not arouse suspicion.”
Video director Nick Middleton said of the video: “Duncan’s dancing style has always been a large part of the Dutch Uncles live experience. He’s got a pretty unique way of dancing, and I wanted to just let him do his thing. The track is all about reaching an ‘emotional zero’ and finding something that sustains you beyond that, the beginning of something new. I showed that with Duncan alone in the rink at the beginning, and Stealing Sheep arriving in their pink bomber jackets intrigued and joining in. Eventually everyone joins in, and lots of money is thrown around in slow motion, with everyone grabbing for it like at the end of the Crystal Maze.”
