In honour of the Hull UK City of Culture celebrations this Summer, Innercity Live brings to the party a night of exceptional live music. Taking place at Zebedee’s Yard, and set to feature esteemed headliners The Flaming Lips, plus support from special guests Public Service Broadcasting, further special guests have been announced, and joining the bill alongside them, will be, Dutch Uncles, and Fonda 500.
On Saturday 24th June 2017, neo psychedelic extraordinaires The Flaming Lips will be cramming their flight cases with their finest fancy dress, confetti cannons and whacked-out visuals as they head for the 2017 Capital with a face-melting live performance in mind. Currently out on the road with their horizon bending Oczy Mlody album, Wayne Coyne and his rag tag bunch of mystical musicians, will descend on the city, with a set loaded with prismatic pop curiosities from the album. They’ll take a whirl through some of their oddball opuses such as ‘Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots’, ‘Do you Realize???’, ‘Race For The Prize’, ‘Fight Test’ and on…
Also looking to expand your mind on the evening, though perhaps in a somewhat less kaleidoscopic manner, are Public Service Broadcasting, who join the bill to Inform – Educate – Entertain, with a sample-tastic set of their beguiling brainiac pop. As the interstellar overdrive of their epic, The Race For Space tour, draws to a close, the pseudonymous duo made up of J. Wilgoose Esq , and Wrigglesworth will be charting a course for home via Hull, to blast through their scintillating singles the likes ‘Gagarin’, ‘Spitfire’, ‘Sputnik’ and more.
Additional support on the day will come from Marple’s finest angular art-pop outfit Dutch Uncles, who, now five albums into their career, will bring the boisterous delights of their latest Big Balloon to the bash.
Whilst completing the bill, emerging local heroes, Fonda 500, will be flying the flag for fresh and merging music culture in Hull. With NME describing the band as having a penchant “twisted pop magic of the highest order” – make sure you’re in early doors!
