Record Store Day is here again! That time of year when we all come together to celebrate all things vinyl, and support the independent music stores who provide it! So we urge you to head to Piccadilly Records, Eastern Bloc Records, and Beatin Rhythm – grab your limited press of choice, and then head over to Soup Kitchen to catch who we believe, are some of the most exciting artists the region (and beyond) has to offer!
This year we will be thoroughly entertained by local Mancunian bands including Plank; favourites of BBC Radio 6 Music, this will be their first hometown headline show of 2017, Ill; with new material on the way, this four-piece turn heads with their spikily brilliant art-rock, Kyotoya; a new four-piece making waves with their reverb heavy noise rock squall, and Aaberg; another super new local band dealing in gorgeous bedroom lo-fi, their first EP is among our most listened to releases of recent months. Alongside these will be Peaness; one of the North West’s fastest rising bands from Chester, and a Soup Kitchen favourite, they have just been signed to Alcopop Records, and have a slew of festival slots ahead of them, and finally Great Ytene; Brighton’s Faux Discx signees have released one of the favoured LPs of the year so far in Locus.
Newly announced attending are Macclesfield youngsters The Showers; dealing in hypnotic swirls of brass-laden dream-pop, delivered with a cocksure swagger.
Catch all these at Soup Kitchen, Manchester, this Saturday 22nd April 2017. Doors 4pm. Price is £3 on the door. Get yourself there.
