We are as pleased as punch to be invited back as curators for this year’s Sound City Festival in Liverpool. As well as selecting bands for the weekend (Gaffa Tape Sandy and Low Island in case you were wondering), we’re also getting involved in the Sound City Plus conference on Friday 4th May – where we’ll be hosting a speed PR Surgery.
Alongside Silent Simon and Vic, we’ve invited some of our buds to help give you the best insider knowledge to get your DIY PR on point, including the awesome Chris Hawkins from BBC 6Music and Zoe Wallace, the Head of Liverpool’s Agent Academy, from the legends at Agent Marketing.
We’re doing this session because DIY PR is more often than not, the only route for new musicians and bands to get their music out there. Hired help can be expensive, whilst the power of the web means that the potential audience for a new band is massive.
However, whilst we live in a ‘digital native’ world, not everyone who’s in a band knows how to write a good press release, approach the media or use social media effectively, to grow their fanbase.
The Silent Radio Speed PR Surgery is where new musicians can receive first-hand advice from the Silent Radio team and some of their music industry mates. All you have to do bring with you a PR / Marketing related problem that you’d like advice on (i.e a press release, social media, getting YOUR stuff ‘out there’ etc) and we’ll do our very best to point you in the right direction.
Find out more about the session and how you can get tickets to Sound City+ with a whole host of incredible music industry speakers such as Alan McGee, Vince Power and more, right here https://plus.soundcity.uk.com/networking/silent-radio:-speed-pr-surgery
The Sound City+ conference forms part of the Liverpool Sound City festival weekend, with headliners Idles, Baxter Dury, The Slow Readers Club and hundreds of the best upcoming musical talent from across the UK. Get your tickets now www.soundcity.uk.com
