Independent live promoters Bad Uncle and Grey Lantern once again descend on their local, Levenshulme’s Klondyke Bowls Club, for another Box Social all-dayer on August 1.
Ten live acts, DJs, an independent record label fair and more besides are set to descend on south-east Manchester for a truly eclectic day of music.
The live line-up for this third installment includes the dubby disco pop of recent Scottish Album of The Year finalists Happy Meals, as well as Denovali-signed ambient experimentalist Petrels, playing a rare show with a full band in tow; also travelling from outside the M60 are Gringo Records noise rock posse Grey Hairs, syncopated rhythm minimalists Rattle, Leeds-based punks Hilary & The Hate Crimes and Widnes’ newly-renamed three-piece tearaways Mothers.
Top billing among the locals are the returning From The Kites of San Quentin, the trio providing a heady mix of progressive hip-hop and jazz-influenced electronica. They’re joined by the pastoral dream-pop of Mother (not to be confused with Mothers!), the visceral power trio Lake of Snakes, featuring Tombed Visions David McLean, and brand spanking new post-hardcore lot Gut Model.
A big part of the day – as it was last time – is about forging links between as many pockets of Manchester’s music community as we can, and so we’re delighted to also be hosting an independent record fair as part of the event, with the odd second hand distro stall also pitching up. There’ll be food too, with DJs, stall holders and vendors all to be announced.
Doors open at 2pm, advance tickets cost £10.
