Graham Massey & Umut Çağlar
Samarbeta Music Residency have announced that Graham Massey & Umut Çağlar will the latest artists to take up residency at Islington Mill event space between Tuesday 22nd August – Friday 1st September 2017.
During their 10 day residency in the Islington Mill event space, Graham Massey & Umut Çağlar will work together for only the second time ever. This follows their brief one day collaboration back in 2015 again at Islington Mill, when they worked with local saxophonist David McLean, which resulted in a ‘Live at Islington Mill’ tape release on Austin Texas label (Astral Spirits).
The result of the residency will be both a duet album written and recorded within the 10 days along with a one off opportunity to see the duo perform live on the final night, Friday 1st September 2017. The record and performance aims to become a unique blend, which will use their past experience as techno artists to build something new as current avant garde musicians; a mash of past and present, techno and jazz, DJ and producer and Istanbul vs Manchester.
