To celebrate this years oncoming performance from Chic ft Nile Rodgers, Festival No.6 have commissioned the Brythoniaid Male Voice Choir to record an incredible, unique version of ‘Good Times’ by Chic. Originally produced for their album ‘Risqué’, ‘Good Times’ reached #1 in the US and #5 in the UK charts and is one of the most sampled songs in the world to date. The 60 members of the Brythoniad Male Voice Choir, formed in 1964 in Blaenau Ffestiniog, squeezed in to the studio to record their interpretation of the disco classic, then filmed a stunning video in Portmeirion.
After the success of their astounding version of ‘Blue Monday’ by New Order last year, The Brythoniaid Male Voice Choir were once again approached by Festival No.6 to bring their magic to the line up. They performed the biggest selling 12” of all time throughout the festival and this year will be making a welcome return.
Last year’s event saw thousands of awestruck guests converge on the peaceful shores of the Welsh wonderland of Portmeirion, where the ocean, mountains and forests create the festival’s perimeter. The filming location of cult 60s TV show The Prisoner is a fantasyland of whimsical Italianate architecture overlooking the rolling estuary waters of the Irish Sea.
Such was the success of its inaugural year that Festival No.6 was named Best New Festival at the UK Festival Awards, whilst 2012 headliners New Order walked away with the prize for Best Headline Performance. More recently it was voted Best Small Festival in a public poll at the NME Awards.
Guests in 2013 can look forward to another year of outstanding musical acts, ethereal scenery, breathtaking architecture and enchanting distractions at a UK festival location like no other!
