From time to time, one of our contributors will recommend an artist/band they think deserves your attention. No record labels, PR companies, bands or band’s management will ever have made these recommendations. It is simply one music fan putting their taste on the line in the hope of sharing good music. The questions are intended to give just a basic introduction to possibly your new favourite artist/band.
So without further ado, let’s crack on with another introduction, in which Silent Radio’s Vic Turnbull recommends DECO for your audible delectation.
● Who are ya?
Max from Deco.
● Where are you from?
From East Midlands but live in London.
● How long have you been doing what you’re doing now?
Deco have been going for nearly 2 years now but we’ve been in previous bands that have paved the way to this one.
● Is being a musician your full time job?
Yes.
● Are there any obvious influences in your music?
Pop – mainly 80s pop. Influence from Duran Duran, George Michael, Tears For Fears I think is fairly prominent in our music.
● Are there any not so obvious influences in your music?
Nirvana, Muse, Michael Jackson. Although, being a Muse fan as a young teenager has influenced things like stage presence and how important it is to nail a live show.
● Any musical Guilty Pleasures? Come on you can share, we’re all friends here!
Enya, Harry Styles, Aztecs!
● Apart from yourself of course, what other band/artist would you recommend our readers check out?
Chroma Bay
● Tell us about the defining moment when you thought ‘Fuck, yes I want to be a musician!’
I had sung and played numerous different instruments as a kid but the moment I knew I wanted to be in a band was when I watched a young Arctic Monkeys & Muse back to back at Reading Festival 2006 on the TV.
● Does what go on, on tour, stay on tour?
I don’t think any of us could keep a secret for more than a day..
● What’s your most favouritist gig (as a gig goer), like, ever?
Toughest question ever.. I have a few that really stand out. Foals at Wembley Arena last year was definitely up there.. The first time I saw Muse in 2006 Nottingham Arena, right at the front. And also when I saw Editors at Y Not Festival 2016 on my birthday (we were playing the next day).
● Who, in your wildest dreams would you like to collaborate with/be produced by?
Quincy Jones – we had better be quick though, he’s 84!
● Best place for people to find out what you are up to?
instagram.com/decobanduk – www.facebook.com/decoband – www.twitter.com/decobanduk
● Anything to declare?
