Keeping on top of the mountains of new bands is a full-time job, and even here at Silent Radio we need a hand every now and then to find the diamonds in the rough. Thankfully, the good folks at the Deaf Institute are as committed to new music as we are, and on 29 September, their new bands showcase Stay Fresh Fest returns.
Across two floors of the mighty Grosvenor Street venue, no fewer than ten young and hungry bands will be playing across seven hours. We’re delighted to see that several of the bands on the bill have already been featured on this site, including former WU LYF alumni Lost Under Heaven, local punk grunge rascals Witch Fever, Manchester duo Pearl City (formerly Bernard + Edith) and Chew Magna, the new project from Songs For Walter’s Laurie Hulme.
Filling out the bill are Manchester anti-folk band Crywank, nu-R&B artist [K S R], newcomers Wyoming and Black Pudding, and local indie institution Francis Lung. If all of this sounds like a Saturday well spent to you, then tickets are available now.
We have covered previous editions of Stay Fresh Fest and have never been less than impressed by the bands on offer, so take up this chance to catch the best of the artists currently bubbling under the radar in Manchester’s evergreen music scene.
