Sleaford Mods: Invisible Britain isn’t just a documentary about the Nottingham duo, it’s also looks at the current state of the nation.
The film makers took to the road to follow Sleaford Mods as they embarked on a tour that would take them to the smaller, ignored, less toured and boarded up parts of the UK that many bands wouldn’t dream of visiting.
The film makers took their cue from the likes of Patrick Keiller’s extraordinary Robinson Trilogy, the wanderings of Iain Sinclair, and J.G.Ballard’s comment ‘The future is just going to be a vast, conforming suburb of the soul’. Invisible Britain is mix of raw footage of the band, interviews with fans at the gigs and a look into what the people and communities are doing to battle the government’s austerity measures.
With the mix of social and music aspects of the film, Invisible Britain aims to look at story of how the most relevant British band in a long time flicked the Vs to the status quo (not the band).
The Manchester screening is presented by Twisted Reel, a film night that has previously screened films on the Washington DC hardcore scene, The Fall, The Dandy Warhols, Death and more.
