London-based quartet Lunacre have released their new single “Red Sky”, taken from their forthcoming EP ‘Pearl Tabloid’. The latest cut is awash with the band’s blissful harmonies yet there’s a distinctive change of tone in the second half as a crunching, distorted guitar introduces another facet of the forthcoming EP’s soundscape. Beginning last year on a high following a packed out launch show at The Water Rats for their previous EP, ‘Schtum’, Lunacre also garnered strong support for the title track and made their way into Spotify’s Fresh Finds, picking up over 150,000 streams in the process.
‘Red Sky’ and the rest of the EP were written/produced by lead vocalist and songwriter Ben de Vries over the past year amidst working with David Gray and remixing alt-J’s ‘Deadcrush’. The new single is about dwelling, planning and how, ‘Life unfolds and certain things stick with you, for reasons which aren’t always obvious at first’.
