The premier festival for books about music, Louder Than Words, kicks off today at the Innside Hotel in Manchester. Over the course of the weekend, there will be appearances from Will Sergeant, Trevor Horn, Ian Broudie, Steve Norman (Spandau Ballet), Don Powell (Slade), Nick Banks (Pulp) and Pauline Murray talking about their new books. Other speakers will include Bob Stanley on his excellent biography of the Bee Gees, Daniel Rachel (a study of Two-Tone), Douglas McIntyre (Scottish independent pop 1977-1984), John Robb (a history of goth) and Will Hodgkinson (joined by Lawrence of Felt, Go-Kart Mozart) on 1970s pop.
In addition, Silent Radio will be participating in Saturday morning’s panel discussion on music journalism. Come and join us.
