Nashville rockers Savoy Motel are coming to the UK for the first time this week, playing two gigs in London and a live session for Lauren Laverne’s 6music show on Wednesday 16th November. The band’s first album came out to much critical applause end of October, gaining praise from MOJO, Q and The Guardian, Pitchfork to Loud & Quiet, their heavy grooves drawing comparisons to Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Sparks, Beck and Pulp.
The full live dates for their unbridled rock n roll show are as follows, incidentally ‘Savoy Motel’ is one of Rough Trade’s albums of the month:

Formed two years ago, Savoy Motel “use rock and roll as a vehicle to reach and promote the feeling of TOTAL FREEDOM,” according to guitarist Dillon Watson. “Savoy Motel is defined more by a feeling than a sound. I hear this feeling in other acts too… Miles Davis, Little Richard, the Osborne Brothers, Faust, the Stones, all the best ones. And the diversity of records I knew TOTAL FREEDOM from was also encouraging to me early on in regards to the band, because it made me realise what potential and widespread appeal our music could have.” Between the four members (Jeffrey Novak, Jessica McFarland, Mimi Galbierz and Dillon Watson) they’ve previously played in Nashville staples like Cheap Time, Heavy Cream and Rat Traps.
