Having recently unveiled the raw and fuzz-laden ‘Severin The Mind’, Bristol’s Velcro Hooks have released its unhinged new visuals, available to watch now below. The track, out January 15th via Howling Owl, is the first preview of their long-awaited debut album, due for release in 2016.
The video to ‘Severin The Mind’ sees the band letting their rabid imaginations run wild on an old farm. Of the video, the band says: “On an unrelated road trip to find songwriter Jenner’s old microphone, we stumbled across an old farm and thought “Heck, what a great place to shoot some movies.” We told our filmmaker buddy James Hankins about it and within days he had come up with some nutso idea about hillbillies, alter egos, and a maniacal cult set on the farm. Noticing our quizzical responses to the idea his words were “Trust me, it’ll be good.” So following our guts, we did just that and drank beer, played with power tools and cooked a whole salmon whilst shooting everything within 12 hours. I think we set out to make something creepy, but ended up having too much fun that day.”
Velcro Hooks have been lying low of late, having previously released a well-received EP and a series of singles. Since we last heard from them, Velcro Hooks have been plotting their return, building their own studio at which they have written, recorded, produced and mixed their debut album, which will be released next year. ‘Severin The Mind’, the first track from that album, is the most jagged and unpredictable track Velcro Hooks have released to date, and a taster of what’s in store from their debut.
‘Severin The Mind’ is released via Howling Owl on January 15th.
