With the release of their recent hugely acclaimed album Plumb, and having completed a sold out tour of the UK, Field music, a.k.a. Sunderland siblings Peter and David Brewis (along with Kev Dosdale on guitars and synth and Andrew Lowther on bass) have just announced a 12 date tour of the UK this coming October following a host of festival appearances across the summer.
To coincide with these dates Field Music will be releasing a limited edition compilation of cover versions. If you’ve come across their versions of Syd Barrett’s “Terrapin”, The Beatles’ “Don’t Pass Me By” or Roxy Music’s “If There Is Something” you’ll know that this will be something worth investigating. David Brewis explains: “Over the years we’ve been handed excuses to try all sorts of covers. Sometimes we’ve been quite faithful and other times we’ve completely de-constructed them. Even though I don’t think it’s something which comes naturally to us, we always seem to find some element which can turn a song into Field Music”.
Drawn from a mixture of previous recordings and upcoming sessions at their Wearside studio, the Field Music covers compilation is available to preorder exclusively now from the band’s website at www.field-music.co.uk.
