After the release of their self-titled début album, Django Django, the Scottish art-rock band, have released a perky little ditty titled ‘Storm’. Although some bands take inspiration from the headline names of the past, Django Django take theirs from the now defunct Scottish indie “semi-legends”, The Beta Band.
The rigid drum beat, metronomic in style, keeps the track going whilst vocalist Vincent Neff sits melody lines with a Scottish tone on top. The chorus section, with its drop into the minor key, reflects the line that comes before it, “Watch the wind change and find out where you’ve been blown”, and sums up this catchy tune. The disjointed harmonies and echoey chorus gives the feeling that the band are engulfed in a storm and gives the track an edgy feel. With its irresistible bass-line and pop stomp, ‘Storm’ sums up everything that makes this band so special.
The single also includes a remix of the album track ‘Skies Over Cairo’ by dub legend Adrian Sherwood; an extra little treat for listeners.
