It has been a manic couple of weeks for King Krule, aka 18-year-old south east London-based singer/producer/songwriter Archy Marshal. Having just released a stunning double A-side single ‘Rock Bottom’/’Octopus‘ via Rinse, he completed an incredible trio of sold-out headline shows in Paris, Manchester and London in support of the release, which proved very much the talk of their respective towns.
If that wasn’t enough, simultaneously the KK brand was extended to not one but two new remixes entering blogland, first his own inimitable reworking of Angel Haze’s white hot cut ‘New York’, which has been equally scorching up airwaves since it debuted online. Then the tables were turned and it was him that finally succumbed to the remix treatment at the hands of New York’s hottest new rap clique, Ratking, who had their way with new AA-side ‘Octopus’ to rather inspiring effect, or so thought Jay Z, who premiered the track via his own Life & Times blog.
Lastly, for those who missed Archy taking the reigns on Rinse FM to commemorate the single release, be sure to check out the podcast of his show for two hours of mind-boggling crate digging and stories demystifying the building blocks of the KK sound. Essential listening. Plus, all those missing KK’s video presence on this release, fear not, there’s something special for you just around the corner…
