Beirut are set to perform their only UK headline date outside of Greenman Festival at Manchester’s iconic Albert Hall on the 14th August. Tickets go on sale this Friday (16th) at 9am (gigsandtours)
Their sound traverses a broad spectrum, from the whimsically plaintive stripped-back touches of the Decemberists to the lo-fi psychedelic experimentation of Neutral Milk Hotel who are also playing two dates at the same venue on the 17th & 18th of May.
At the heart of Beirut is musical prodigy Zach Condon, a multi-instrumentalist who began by making DIY bedroom tunes in his early teens before dropping out of college to travel Europe. While on the trip he took in the sounds of the continent, from Gypsy music to Balkan folk, expanding the palette that now informs the group’s adventurous creations. Their sound is coloured with accordion, keyboards, saxophone, clarinet, ukulele, horns, cello, glockenspiel, and percussion.
