US four-piece Sextile have previewed the first song from their debut album. The LA band, who take their name from an astrological term relating to harmony and the ease of expression of two conflicting elements, have shared Can’t Take It.
The track is taken from A Thousand Hands, which will be released on August 21 via Felte. It is described by the band as a frantic , shadowy call to arms, meditating on feelings of infatuation, desire, the unattainable and the fear of loss, as bubbling synths burst into screams of frustration.
Guitarist/vocalist Brady Keehn and drummer/vocalist Melissa Scaduto originally met in Brooklyn, and after moving to LA they met bassist Kenny Elkin and guitarist/keyboardist Eddie Wuebben.
The album title was inspired by a form of spirit channeling that Wuebben was experimenting with one night. Whilst doing open eye meditation he felt thousands of hands reaching down towards him – a vision that was both frightening and exhilarating.
The experience left such an impression on the band, it became the first track on the album as well the album title.
