This summer some of the most acclaimed live artists are taking over Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl for Sounds Of The City 2016. Opening the series on Friday 1st July for a special hometown show is one of Britain’s great vocalists and songwriters Guy Garvey.

Guy Garvey has spent the last twenty five years as a member of Elbow and as one of the UK’s most recognised and celebrated musicians and lyricists. His recent solo debut, ‘Courting the Squall’, received excellent reviews and has seen Guy play sold out shows across the UK, which were met with critical acclaim. Preceding the Castlefield Bowl show is Guy Garvey’s Meltdown Festival at London’s Southbank Centre along with Forest Live headline dates.

Joining Guy will be Badly Drawn Boy.  Following last year’s 15th anniversary tour in honour of debut album ‘The Hour of Bewilderbeast’, fellow Mancunian Badly Drawn Boy joins Guy as support. A previous winner of the prestigious Mercury Music Award in 2000, Badly Drawn Boy’s anniversary tour received rapturous reviews.

Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl has played host to sold out shows from Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, The Charlatans, Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott, Paolo Nutini, James, Pixies and The Courteeners over the past three years. Joining Guy Garvey this year for headline shows are The Last Shadow Puppets, Haçienda Classical, James Bay, Stereophonics and Catfish and the Bottlemen.
