Parklife 2016
Next weekend is an incredibly important one for those who are supporters of great music and good vibes. Heaton Park plays host to the fantastic Parklife. The festival is curated by the likes of Hacienda & Warehouse Project creator, Sacha Lord – so you already know what to expect. It’s now Manchester’s turn, once again to show the UK how it is done.
Parklife has given festival-goers more of the same from last year as you’ll find it very hard to find a festival that offers such a wide range of artists and genres. Ticket-buyers will be able to see a headline performance from non-other than Major Lazer. Headlining alongside Major Lazer is the pioneering Chemical Brothers who always put on a hallucinogenic performance, which really does epitomise what the weekender is all about.
It’s been perfectly planned out with the likes of Kaytranada appearing on the line-up; who has recently released his extremely creative debut album ’99.9%’.
All angles have been covered by Parklife as Grime stars Kano, Stormzy & the legendary Skepta are all set to appear over the weekend, representing a genre that has seen potentially it’s most important year to date.
One set to really watch out for is Armand Van Helden B2B w/ Jackmaster. As many will know, their Boiler Room set will go down in history and I’m expecting more of the same from the weekend. Another set that I highly recommend that attendees go and see is Jasper James. 2016 has been the year for the super-talented young Scotsman as he was announced as a resident DJ at Phonox, London.
Indie lovers will also get their fix as Liverpool rockers Circa Waves will play the festival alongside the platinum selling Bastille.
Parklife has really staked its claim to be one of the biggest and most impressive major festivals that the UK has to offer since its relocation from Rusholme to Heaton Park in 2012 due to an increase in demand – and I can see why with the line-up being trumped each year.
