Worldly, indie/funk jet setters Unknown Mortal Orchestra release the video for “First World Problem”, acting as a standalone single and follow up to the brilliant ‘Multi-Love’ (2015).
Featuring a video of a man and woman dancing across various different landscapes, from a living room to a desert, it’s a great piece of direction and imagery for this very danceable track. UMO have always had a funk quality, significantly more so on their last album. Tracks like “Can’t Keep Checking My Phone” and “Like Acid Rain” hit the funky spot and fill you up nicely, especially live. I remember seeing them at Liverpool Sound City 2015, I was blown away by their on stage performance and energy created from the music.
This video has certainly acted as a reminder of UMO’s talents to satisfy their fans, I doubt many will be unhappy with this single and look forward to their next major release. Let’s hope it’s as thick and colourful as their last. Although, if they went back to their slightly subtler indie roots, like on their first two albums, I wouldn’t be disappointed either. They are a very versatile band and we hope to hear from them again soon.
