MSc Event students in University of Salford are holding an event titled Dirty Old Town 2017 (D.o.T), as part of their course to highlight Salford’s rich cultural influences, all while raising money for Kidscan – Children’s Cancer Research, and Oxfam.
Taking place on Friday 12th May 2017 from 3pm to 11pm at Atmosphere bar & University House at the University of Salford, the event will showcase some of Salford’s cultural pedigree. On the day there will be music, film, theatre/drama, poetry, and comedy performances, performed by both students, and those from Salford’s talented communities.
Confirmed acts so far include music from Mike & Jane Band, Joe Pardoe, Troy Faid, The Goldtones, and The Vengalis. With a media showcase including the full length film showing of A Taste of Honey (1961), documentaries The Salford Story, and The Changing Face of Salford pt I & II, alongside a variety of TBC student films. Other acts include the Barton Theatre Company; with excerpts from their The Thrill of Love production, Salford City Singers; a ten piece a capella vocal group, and comedians Lewis Costello, and Simon Lomas.
