Brighton’s Egyptian Blue have unveiled their latest single “To Be Felt”. Loaded up on psychedelia and post-punk Egyptian Blue are surfing a wave of razor sharp guitars and crashing melodies. These four like-minded souls spent their teenage years making plans above a jewellers shop in Colchester, before upping sticks to a shared house in Brighton.
The single was produced by Theo Verney (TRAMMS, Fake Laugh, FUR) and documents a period of self-discovery for Egyptian Blue’s co-singers and songwriters Leith Ambrose and Andy Buss. Andy recounts – “We definitely lost a couple of weeks somewhere, basically testing ourselves in an attempt to feel more connected to the world around us. Instead, we just ended up feeling even more detached, as if we were sleep-walking through each day. That’s where the line “to be half-asleep and half-awake all the time” comes from. What started off as a way to feel more affinity with those around us just seemed to make us more detached, so essentially the track is about finding that connection again. I think the police got called at some point, but we’re ok now, honest!”
