We believe that if we are going to recommend a gig to you, then it should be exactly that, a recommendation. There’s always plenty of great gigs going on in Manchester, too many to cover them all, but here’s the list of gigs we’re excited about in September 2024.

The Lemon Twigs: Academy 2 – Guitar pop perfection with glorious vocal harmonies, recalling The Beach Boys and Beatles but with a twist that is all of their own making.
Jon Spencer: Academy 3 – NY’s finest garage rockin’ bluesman Jon Spencer brings his almighty powerful guitar tunes to the Academy 3. One not to be missed!

Jaws The Shark: 33 Oldham Street – After releasing his debut album in July, the Devon based artist brings his brand of indie to 33 Oldham St.
Marc Almond: Bridgewater Hall – Whether with his amazing solo catalogue or during his time with the iconic Soft Cell, Marc Almond has always possessed a gift for introducing songs – some lesser known, others a little forgotten by time – to new audiences. This is something he continues with the release of his latest album ‘I’m Not Anyone’ released in July this year. A mesmerising artist who continues to inspire.

The Lafontaines: Deaf Institute – Scottish electro band touring to promote recently released album ‘Business As Usual’. Famed for their euphoric live shows, this is a chance to catch them in the cosy surrounds of the Deaf Institute.
Moby: Apollo – The electro pioneer brings his anthemic tunes to the Apollo. He is also donating all of the profits from the tour to various animal rights charities across the UK.

Ocean Alley / Hockey Dad: Victoria Warehouse – Australian rock six piece with huge anthemic tunes Support comes from exciting Aussie duo Hockey Dad.

Last Dinner Party: Victoria Warehouse – Following on from their debut ‘Prelude To Ecstasy’ album, the London based band continue to prove they’re worthy of the hype, and after previews sold out shows across the UK, they’re back in Manchester at their biggest gig in our city yet. Catch them while you still can!

Orlando Weeks: Band On The Wall – The former Maccabees man, embarks on a UK tour in support of brilliant solo album LOJA.

Sam Evian: Yes Pink Room – After releasing the stunning fourth album ‘Plunge’ earlier this year, the acclaimed musician brings his psychedelic infused grooves to Yes.
Telescopes: Yes Basement – Absolutely legendary guitar band making a welcome return to the city. Beautiful, ethereal guitar soundscapes and dreamy melodies abound.
Jordan Rakei: Albert Hall – The acclaimed producer and multi instrumentalist bring his soulful pop infused electro to the Albert Hall, hot on the heels of his fifth album ‘The Loop’.

The Go Team: New Century Hall – Do you enjoy a party? Well, let The Go Team transform your night into one. Their joyous stage presence is the closest thing to an electro-pop carnival on a gig stage we’ve ever seen. Brilliant band, and a gig not to be missed!
The Stepford Wives: The Globe, Glossop – Yes, it’s not quite in Manchester, but we like to promote stuff going on in the north west too, within easy reach of the city. So if you fancy a bit of a day out or are in the Glossop are, get yourself down the The Globe to catch this post punk five piece in action.

Pop Will Eat Itself: Academy 2 – Celebrating 30 years since the release of the ‘Dos Dedos Mis Amigos’ album, PWEI bring their sample driven, indie, industrial tunes to the Academy 2 for what promises to be a brilliant celebration of this iconic Midlands band.
Gaffa Tape Sandy: Deaf Institute – Garage rock from Brighton is the order of the day for this amazing three piece. Fans of O Sees and Ty Segal will find a lot to love here.

Crack Cloud: Gorilla – On tour to support the brilliant album Red Mile, released earlier this year on the Jagjaguwar label, Canadian Crack Cloud know how to combine mesmerising melodies with their guitar tunes, so expect a thrilling live set when they descend on Gorilla.
